Cookies We Set

2 (session + consent)

1. What Cookies Are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website when you visit it. They allow the website to recognise your device, maintain state across page loads (such as a logged-in session), and remember preferences. Cookies are governed in the UK by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), which sit alongside the UK GDPR.

Cookies can be session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent cookies (which remain for a set period or until you delete them). They can be set by the website you are visiting (first-party cookies) or by third-party services embedded in that website (third-party cookies).

2. How We Use Cookies

FYSH uses cookies only where they are necessary to operate the platform or where you have provided consent. We do not use cookies for advertising, behavioural tracking, or third-party analytics.

3. Cookies We Set

The following cookies may be placed on your device by FYSH:

Cookie Name Type Duration Purpose Consent Required
PHPSESSID Essential Session (deleted on browser close) Maintains your logged-in session, stores CSRF security tokens, and preserves temporary state across page loads. Required for the platform to function correctly. No — strictly necessary
fysh_cookie_consent Functional 365 days (or session if you choose "Dismiss") Records your cookie consent preference (accepted, dismissed for this session, or permanently dismissed) so the consent banner is not shown on every visit. No — required to honour your stated preference
No tracking, analytics, or advertising cookies: FYSH does not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any similar tracking technology. We do not place cookies for advertising, retargeting, or cross-site tracking purposes.

4. Third-Party Cookies

FYSH loads web fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). This causes your browser to make a request directly to Google's servers. Google may set cookies or log your IP address as part of this request. This is incidental to font delivery and not something FYSH controls. For details, refer to Google's Privacy Policy.

We do not embed social media buttons, advertising networks, or any other third-party services that customarily set tracking cookies.

5. Managing Your Cookie Preferences

5.1 Using our consent banner

When you first visit FYSH, you will see a cookie consent banner. You may:

  • Accept all — records your consent; the consent cookie is set for 365 days.
  • Dismiss — records a session-only dismissal; the banner will reappear on your next visit.
  • Don't show again — records a permanent dismissal for 365 days without full consent.

5.2 Browser settings

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block all cookies, block only third-party cookies, or delete existing cookies. Please note that blocking the essential FYSH session cookie (PHPSESSID) will prevent you from logging in or using the platform as an authenticated user.

Guidance for managing cookies in common browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Apple Safari
  • Microsoft Edge

5.3 Withdrawing consent

You may withdraw consent for non-essential cookies at any time by clearing your browser cookies and revisiting the site, where the consent banner will reappear. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before withdrawal.

6. Changes to This Policy

We will update this Cookie Policy if we introduce new cookies or change how we use existing ones. Material changes will be notified via the cookie consent banner on your next visit and, where appropriate, by email. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated accordingly.

7. Further Information

For more information about how FYSH handles personal data more broadly, including how to exercise your data subject rights, please refer to our Privacy Policy. For enquiries about cookies specifically, please contact us at [email protected].
