Buyer guide · England & Wales
Buy a home on FYSH.
Step by step.
A plain-English walk through buying a home privately on FYSH, from finding a property and registering your interest to viewings and agreeing a price directly with the seller.
Step 1
Create your account
A free account lets you save searches, set property alerts, and register interest in a listing.
Sign up with your email address and verify it to activate your account. Browsing listings is open to everyone, but registering interest and messaging a seller need a verified buyer account so everyone on the platform is accountable.
Create a free buyer account to get started.
Step 2
Search and set alerts
Find homes that match what you are looking for, then let FYSH tell you when new ones appear.
Filter the listings by location, price, property type, and number of bedrooms. When a search looks right, save it as a property alert and FYSH will email you as soon as a matching home is listed, so you never miss a new property in your area.
Step 3
How privacy works
FYSH protects seller privacy until a buyer shows genuine interest.
A listing shows an approximate location, not the full address, while it is public. The exact address and the seller's contact become available once you register an expression of interest and the seller accepts it. This keeps sellers safe and means the people they talk to are serious buyers.
Step 4
Register your interest
An expression of interest tells the seller you would like to take the next step.
On a listing you like, register an expression of interest. The seller is notified and can accept it, which unlocks secure messaging between you so you can ask questions, request more detail, and arrange a viewing, all inside FYSH with no need to share personal contact details up front.
Step 5
Arrange a viewing
See the property in person before you make an offer.
Once the seller has accepted your interest, use the messaging thread to propose viewing times that suit you both. Treat a private viewing as you would any other, let someone know where you are going, and take your time to look over the property properly.
For more detailed information, read our buyer safeguarding guide on staying safe at a viewing.
Step 6
Make an offer
Exchange offers a price directly with the seller using the Private Offer Tracker.
When you are ready, the seller can open a Private Offer Tracker exchange. You and the seller exchange offers in an encrypted, timestamped thread, so the back and forth is clear and on the record. There is no agent in the middle and no obligation until contracts are exchanged.
Read more on the Private Offer Tracker page.
Step 7
Conveyancing and completion
Once a price is agreed, qualified professionals handle the legal transfer.
Instruct a solicitor or licensed conveyancer to carry out searches, handle contracts, and manage the transfer of funds. FYSH is a classified advertising platform, not a conveyancer or legal adviser, so the legal steps are handled by regulated professionals you appoint. The buyer's guide covers this stage in more depth.
Step 8
Staying safe
A few simple habits keep private buying secure.
Keep conversations and offers inside FYSH so there is a record, never send money to secure a viewing, and be cautious of anyone trying to move you off the platform early. If something feels wrong, you can report a concern at any time.
Report a concern if you need to.
